dancing in the daylight

ruby, the survivor

dear ruby,

my heart bleeds for you

i cry for your circumstance

for your circumstance was mine

damned at birth

to have to fight

or to succumb,

be that victim

left to wither and die

plucked from the sky

on a stormy night

you came too soon

maybe thatʼs why

oh ruby, youʼre just like me

a deep red rose,

that grows in unbearable degrees

in the dead of winter,

there we are

living,

breathing,

blooming,

growing,

with no light

sweet ruby, my love for you is never ending

even though we donʼt look up and see the same night

i shoot an arrow through that cross in the sky

it has no answers

just the will to survive

donʼt be afraid

stand tall

take the pain

put down your shield

release all fear

and when the cold tries to turn you dark

let my arrow pierce your heart
